“Alone in the Night”
Quarantined to the Calgary base for two weeks, Taylor and his team have bought time to get answers from the supposed Martian cosmonaut. But who can get him to talk?

great acting, great writing, great story. kept me on my toes the whole time. very much needed and appreciated improvement in sound editing compared to Episode 02. all in all – great stuff! donated, can’t wait for Episode 04!

Glad to hear it! We’ve brought on board a great sound engineer named John Zanakis, glad you noticed the difference in audio quality. At some point we’re going to go back and ‘remaster’ the first two episodes as well.
Josh
The first two episodes felt … stronger.
and the end of episode 3 was like WTF? why did he calm down and talk and she cried and WHAT IS HAPPENING!! >:O
AhmadSA
Thanks for the feedback. We knew this one was going to be divisive. It definitely has a much different tone than the previous two, but that was by design.
I’d say he spoke because she got through to him earlier. But that’s just me
Josh
The writing is what makes this series. Good dialogue and interesting characters whom we can identify with are the keys to good drama. As a side note, I keep waiting for one of the characters to bust out the lostcosmanauts.com website. The signal arriving at the baikonur cosmodrome sounds eerily like one of the signals on that web site. Keep up the good work, I will be donating to the cause!
Inlimbo
hmm first 2 were better but as you said this one was meant to be this way so.. ok.
Btw, english isnt my native language but i do speak/write well but i couldnt understand what the “patient” said, is it russian? if so why no subtitles on it?
I might be dead wrong, and that was english and i didnt understood it, or the idea was to make people crazy for the episode 4 by not putting the translation. Either way im going crazy trying to understand what he said. :’(
Gui
@Inlimbo: Thank you, much appreciated! Though I am biased, of course
@Gui: It’s interesting, for some, this was the first ep they really liked, and others the first that they didn’t. I guess that means we’re doing something right. Definitely don’t want each episode to be the same.
Yuri says
‘firebird’
in Russian, and you’re not necessarily supposed to understand. So no worries there. The implication is that he must have understood some, if not everything, she was saying.
Josh
I absolutely love this series. Keep up the good work. I’m too poor to donate right now, but I’m spreading the word.
Don
btw, congratulations, the series is indeed awesome. Sorry for not saying earlier but as you know i wasnt thinking properly.
Gui
@Don: Spreading the word is just as important.
@Gui: Thank you!
Josh
I love this story, its intelligent and interesting, i can’t wait to see episodes 4-100
its rare that we get to see scifi that doesn’t involve battle ships and intergalactic civilizations i think this is a much under utilized part of the genre. the “real” scifi so to speak.
Now get back to work! i’m not a patient fan;-)
Greg
Great work! Donated, and impatiently waiting for the next episode.
Wikipedia says episode 4 is due this month.. any hints whenabouts?
Momo
We’re still waiting to hear for confirmation from VODO but it’s looking like toward the end of the month. We’ll obviously be making an announcement as soon as we hear for sure. Thanks for your support guys!
Josh
Fell in love with this show after watching the first five minutes of episode one! And Josh, you are definitely doing something right! Will be donating in June. Wish I could do that sooner but circumstances prevent at the moment. Keep up the great work!
Tom
Thanks for the kind words Tom! I think you’ll really enjoy what comes up next…
Josh
this is a great example of low budget movie that can be made with almost no special effects – but which is made by inspired and talanted people… The series is relly great – thnks guys!! Sure that it will be more and more interesting with every new episode thanks alot!! I tohugh that real sci fi is already dead and it was completely replaced by shooting and CGI effects Respect to the creators team!)))
mj
big plot hole why wouldnt the agents if they are from homeland security get a expert in foreign languages namely russian if the kid Uri speaks russian dont you think that would be one of the first things they would’ve done instead of getting some nurse girl that doesnt even have a degree in russian lit. she even said that herself
abis
dont get me wrong not bashing or hating on the show i really enjoy it and am telling all my friends to watch it its great just thought there was a big plot hole there
abis
@ abis: The Jane character is there to connect with Yuri and coax him out of his shock. She’s not supposed to be a translator, and they’re trying to keep this under the radar. Hence “there must be a million people more qualified than me to handle something like this.”
Josh
Just wonderful – very compelling.

Auurrrghh… the old space-pen vs. pencil myth. Please don’t make the characters idiots.

In the original scene Dr. Walzer corrects the character who says that, but it interrupted the flow of the scene. Thing is it *is* a useful illustration and that’s what we wanted to audience to take away, not that Walzer is a know-it-all (they should know that already!). It was a nice moment but it just didn’t play as hoped.

Great Job! Some of the best sci-fi in years, and just to think it is being done on a “shoestring budget”!

I love this it has everything to keep a SMART person interested. No simple story line at all. I really respect you as people for making this and love you as a human for touching me with the human side of the story. Great actors and very smart intel on how US government would react if they had heart felt real honest people who where in charge of something like this.
